Staying Safe During the COVID-19 Pandemic

Getting Your Business Back in Business

2020 is hardly 4 months old, but will already be going down in the global history books. In these unprecedented times, it’s more important than ever that we look out for each other and keep each other safe. COVID-19, and the SARS-CoV-2 virus that causes it, have led to increased interest in best practices for cleaning and disinfecting surfaces. We’re here today to shed some light on this important topic.

Cleaning and Disinfecting

The most common way that SARS-CoV-2 is transmitted is through respiratory droplets produced by an infected individual, such as during coughing or sneezing. That being said, the virus is also known to be able to stay active on hard surfaces for some period of time. Proper cleaning and sanitation is important to deactivate viral particles. The virus that causes COVID-19 is known as an enveloped virus. Luckily enough for us, some common household disinfectants can be effective at clearing away these kinds of viral particles left on surfaces. The Canadian government has posted a list of disinfectants on their website that can be used against SARS-CoV-2.

Protecting Yourself

We can clean and disinfect all we want, but the best way of protecting ourselves and those around us is to follow the advice of health professionals. Washing your hands with good old soap and water remains highly effective. Ensure that you wash for at least 20 seconds; you may require even longer if your hands are particularly soiled. Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth, as these are common routes of entry for the virus. Practice social distancing, whether it means working from home or cancelling the small house gathering you had planned with your friends.

Regency Cleaning is committed to seeing Calgarians weather this viral pandemic safely. Now, more so than ever, we need to be kind to one another and think about how we can take care of everyone’s well being. Stay safe and stay healthy!
